New Legislation for Virtual Meeting Provisions

New Legislation for Virtual Meeting Provisions

Over the last three years, the Government of Ontario has made temporary legislative provisions under the Condominium Act, 1998 (Condo Act) and other business law statutes to extend the effective period of temporary legislative provisions permitting corporations governed under these statutes to call and hold meetings virtually, as applicable, notwithstanding certain restrictions or requirements.

Today, the government introduced legislative amendments as part of the Less Red Tape, Strong Economy Act, 2023 that will make permanent changes under these statutes to better reflect the digital age and allow for broader participation.

An outline of the bill is available for viewing on the Legislative Assembly of Ontario website.
