Message to Transitional General Licensees

On your most recent licence renewal application, you indicated that you had completed the education requirements for a General Licence. If this is accurate and you intend to continue providing condominium management services after June 30, 2021, you are encouraged to apply for a General Licence as soon as possible.

If, however, this is not accurate and you have not completed the education requirements for a General Licence, please be advised that as a Transitional General Licensee whose licence was issued prior to June 30, 2018, you have until June 30, 2021, to complete the education requirements and obtain a General Licence. Pursuant to section 16 of Ontario Regulation 123/17, you will not be able renew your Transitional General Licence during this year’s renewal period.

The education requirements for a General Licence are successful completion of the following four courses developed by the Association of Condominium Managers of Ontario (ACMO):

1. Condominium Law

2. Physical Building Management

3. Financial Planning for Condominium Managers

4. Condominium Administration and Human Relations

Applicants who, prior to November 1, 2017, had five or more years’ experience in providing condominium management services also have the option of taking any of the corresponding challenge exams in lieu of any individual course. Courses and challenge exams are available online. Writing challenge exams is subject to approval from ACMO.

For any questions about course registration or challenge exam registration, please contact Janice Schenk. For more information about ACMO’s courses, please visit their website.
