Home Inspection Act – Implementation Phase
The Putting Consumers First Act,2017 , proposed a new statute called the Home Inspection Act, 2017 (HIA) , which was passed last year but is not yet in force. The HIA calls for the establishment of a mandatory licensing program for home inspection companies and home inspectors practicing across the province.
The CMRAO and the Ministry of Government and Consumer Services have entered into an agreement to develop this new licensing program for the home inspection sector in Ontario. The implementation of the HIA will not impact the CMRAO’s current priorities of licensing and regulating the condo management sector.
