Dos and Don’ts: Using the CMRAO Licence Designation and Logo

Dos and Don’ts: Using the CMRAO Licence Designation and Logo

The CMRAO is the regulatory body responsible for setting standards and enforcing the mandatory licensing of condominium managers and provider businesses in Ontario. As a designated administrative authority, our role is to ensure consumer protection for people living and investing in condominiums across the province.

Use your designation. You earned it.

When managers and provider businesses apply for a licence, after meeting important licensing and regulatory requirements, successful applicants are granted one of three licences and their associated designations:

  1. General Licence: Ontario Licensed Condominium Manager (OLCM)
  2. Limited Licence: Ontario Licensed Condominium Manager (OLCM-L)
  3. Condominium Management Provider Licence: Ontario Licensed Condominium Management Provider (OLCMP)

Licensees are encouraged to use their designation to reflect their licence, for example, on business cards, email signatures, stationary, social media, and personal/corporate and marketing materials. These are accurate and acceptable uses of the designation.

For example, Jane Cho holds a General Licence, which in an email signature could look something like this:

Jane Cho, OLCM
Condominium Management Company Name

Examples of trademark infringement include:

  • using the CMRAO logo without our knowledge and approval on a document that was not produced by the CMRAO
  • using the CMRAO logo in a personal or corporate email signature
  • using the CPE identifier on event materials (digital and print) that have not been pre-approved by the CMRAO as a CPE learning activity
