Extension of Virtual Meeting Provisions

Extension of Virtual Meeting Provisions

On October 6, 2021, the Government of Ontario announced regulatory amendments under the Condominium Act, 1998 (Condo Act), and other statutes to extend the period of temporary legislative provisions that permit condominium corporations to hold virtual meetings to September 30, 2022.

Ontarians are still required to maintain the health and safety protocols currently in place to stop the spread of COVID-19, and this extension provides flexibility so that corporations can continue to host annual meetings and meet their obligations during the pandemic.

The decision to extend was made after the Ministry of Government and Consumer Services’ (MGCS) recent public consultation on further temporary or permanent amendments under the Condo Act regarding virtual processes.
