Public Notice: CMRAO Excellence in Condominium Management Course Fee

Introduction of a new mandatory course for applicants for a Limited Licence effective November 1, 2021

As the Condominium Management Regulatory Authority of Ontario (CMRAO) continues to grow and expand its services to the condominium management sector, we remain committed to delivering value and making a difference for the people seeking a career as condominium managers in Ontario.

Effective November 1, 2021, the educational requirements for condominium manager licence applicants will be set by the Registrar of the CMRAO.

The CMRAO, with extensive participation of its Advisory Committee and condominium management industry, conducted an occupational analysis and created a comprehensive set of professional competencies. The resulting competency profile was used as the foundation for an education roadmap and the course blueprints.

Currently, individuals applying for a Limited Licence are not required to take any courses, and those applying for a General Licence are required to take courses delivered outside the CMRAO through secondary education institutions or private education providers.

Excellence in Condominium Management will be a mandatory course for new entrants into the profession of condominium manager. The course and associated exam will become available on November 1, 2021, and will be delivered by the CMRAO through a blended method of online and instructor-led learning. The final exam will be a remote-proctored online exam.

The CMRAO will incur the costs for delivering the course and exam, however the fee that prospective applicants will pay for this course and exam will ensure a recovery of these costs.

The CMRAO has developed a plan to offer the course through its own online learning platform at a low cost to the prospective Limited Licensees ($150) in order to ensure access to the profession and limit the burden on prospective licensees. This fee reflects the annual operating costs for the CMRAO to deliver the course.
